This is our most popular trip rafting through Durango during high to medium river flows. It is 1.5 hours on the river. We’ll splash through Smelter, Sawmill and Santa Rita Rapids. When the water levels drop after the spring runoff there are many opportunities for swimming as you float along with the raft.
Animas River Trip Review on TripAdvisor
This is our second time using Mountain Waters for a rafting excursion. Michael was an AWESOME guide today. He really worked with our kids (7 – 12) and made them feel like they were part of the experience versus just having them along for the ride.I would recommend him to anyone. Full of interesting facts and great ideas not only during the trip but ideas for things to do in Durango for after the ride was over. Thanks Michael! The half day trip is perfect for families with small kids.
This is the option to choose at low water and to up the adventure level. It goes along with our regular raft trips allowing those in your group to raft or kayak on any of our Animas River trips.

trip advisor “Great Family Trip; Great Guide”
We took the half day trip down the lower Animas River guided by Auri. My husband and I have rafted about 6 times in the past, so we had an idea of how things would go. But our 8 and 13 year old children were experiencing rafting for the first time. The safety precautions were good, equipment in good repair, and the guide very skilled and friendly. Taking the trip first thing in the morning (esp on a Sunday) was great because the river was not crowded. Hence, we had a good distance between our boat and others, which made the trip especially pleasant. The river is a bit low by this time of year, but we had several class I’s and a class II. It was a very good family trip and we really appreciated Auri, our guide. Nice job, Mountain Waters! We highly recommend their services. Good times and a good value too. We only wish we had booked a full day trip.
Join us for an exciting day of rafting on the Animas River. Multiple trips through the whitewater park, inflatable kayaks, and an awesome lunch are all included!
This trip is for those on time constraints or have other activities to fit into the day. AKA the Splash and Dash! You get about 1 hour on the river.
Quarter Day Trip Review on TripAdvisor
Our group included my 12 and 14 year old daughters and my 79 year old mother-in-law. She always wanted to try it and everyone else thought it was crazy to bring her along. Matt Riggins was very polite and helpful to her and kept my girls entertained with his silly jokes. We all had a great time! We felt safe and enjoyed it so much that we were sad that we only did the economy trip.
