Upper Animas 2 Day Culinary Splendor
The guides at Mountain Waters take great pride in dishing up the best food in Needleton (our camp on the Upper Animas). No computer menu here. The food is hand selected and purchased. The guides choose their own menu so it changes with each guide’s specialty.
Picture pulling into camp after an exciting day on the Upper Animas. You are tired from paddling down the best Class V River in Colorado. As you pull in, you notice cold beer and soda chilling in the river. The guides go to work making up fresh guacamole and salsa. Dinner is in a couple of hours so you have time to relax and enjoy the largest wilderness in the state of Colorado. Time for a hike, fishing, horseshoes or just kicking back by the camp fire.
Your evening meal at the Needleton Bar & Grill could include:
- A fresh garden salad
- Steak and chicken teriyaki or grilled chicken with green chili and Jack Cheese
- Potatoes au gratin or rice in a cheese and broccoli sauce
- Dessert could be a Dutch oven baked chocolate cake with fresh whipped cream
Food never tastes better than in the great outdoors around a campfire!
Wake up to the guides making breakfast, and the best part is that due to the train schedule, you can sleep in.
- Cowboy coffee, tea, and juice to get you started
- Fresh fruit
- Scrambled eggs with a few surprise spices and veggies
- Bacon or sausage
A Colorado morning couldn’t start any better!
