Our packages allow you to ride the train ALL the way to Silverton!
This is it! The perfect opportunity for you and your family to have it all! You can choose either the “Raft 'n Rail” or the “Rail 'n Raft” Here's how it works:
Rail 'n Raft
- Check in the night before at Mountain Waters Rafting and pick up your train tickets and confirm the schedule.
- Guests may ride the 7:30 AM or the 8:15 AM Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Train to Silverton (request either an open car or a closed car). BE ON BOARD 45 MINUTES BEFORE DEPARTURE!
- Enjoy the sites and history of Silverton on your own
- Have lunch at one of Silverton's great restaurants on your own
- Meet at 12th and Blair in Silverton (look for a large van with “Durango Transportation” written on the side) at 1:00 p.m. for scenic drive back to Durango
- Enjoy the leisurely drive to Durango along the spectacular San Juan Skyway (this is entirely different scenery than you saw earlier today on your train ride). Our shuttle includes a scenic tour!
- Join Mountain Waters Rafting for the 2:45 p.m. raft trip on the Lower Animas
- Finish up at 5:00 p.m.
- In the evening enjoy dinner in Durango on your own as you recall the day's events. You'll find more treasures than gold and silver on this trip - you'll find memories to last a lifetime!

Raft 'n Rail
- Start the day out right with the 8:45 a.m. raft trip on the Lower Animas
- Upon returning to the Mountain Waters headquarters in the Albertson's parking lot, you will board the van and drive to Silverton along the spectacular San Juan Skyway, arriving around 11:15 a.m. Our shuttle includes a scenic tour!
- Enjoy Silverton
- Catch an afternoon train back to Durango
- Your return time to Durango depends upon the train schedule
- Check in the night before by calling Mountain Waters rafting to confirm the reservation
- Pick up your train tickets the night before to avoid a long wait in line at the train station
- Cost: $119 for adults, $99 for children 12 and under
- Available June 1 - August 15

Cancellation Policy
We conform to the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad cancellation policy. Train ticket refunds/Cancellations are subject to a fee of $14.00 per adult ticket and $7.00 per child ticket if cancelled prior to 48 hours of your reserved date. There are no refunds issued on reservations cancelled less than 48 hours of your reserved date. We highly recommend purchasing trip insurance.
Trip Insurance
Many rafting adventure guests wish to be able to cancel at the last minute due to weather, illness, family emergency or changes in travel plans. Cancellation Insurance allows guests to receive a full refund no questions asked. The cost of the insurance is $9 per person for Raft & Rail.

As such, all participants will be required to sign a release of liability before undertaking any activity with Mountain Waters Rafting, Inc.
